Punishment of US officer for criticizing Biden’s ousted departure from Afghanistan

According to USA Today, Glenn Hills, the judge of the military court, decided to sentence Stuart Scheller on Friday, local time, after hearing the indictment of the US Special Forces officer and examining the evidence.

Scheller had submitted his resignation letter before the trial and accepted the charges against him in military court.

U.S. Navy prosecutors have demanded a reprimand for service and a monthly payment of $ 5,000 for six months. The most severe punishment Scheller faced was a two-thirds deduction from his salary for 12 months, along with a reprimand.

However, a military court judge reduced his sentence to a $ 5,000 fine and reprimand.

Scheller released his first protest video on August 26, following a suicide attack on Kabul airport that killed 11 US troops.

He continued to publish his statements on social media such as Facebook and YouTube until September. Scheller’s outspoken criticism of senior US officials and his tumultuous departure from Afghanistan had attracted much attention in American society.
