According to Tejarat News, in the joint meeting of the Minister of Roads and Urban Development and the President of the Iran Cooperative Chamber, the pursuit of land supply for the construction of workers’ residential settlements and the completion of semi-finished Mehr housing units were discussed.

Currently, a large part of workers’ livelihood costs are allocated to housing and rent, and housing is one of their main concerns. One of the problems of workers is commuting from towns and industrial areas to their residences. To help solve this problem and get them a home, the plan to build workers’ housing was launched years ago.

Based on this, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development and the Iran Cooperative Chamber in order to build 200,000 residential units near industrial towns with the participation of housing cooperatives, and the construction of workers’ homes near industrial towns with the aim of providing low-cost housing for workers is on the agenda. it placed.

Initially, 100,000 residential units were to be built for those workers covered by social security insurance, but this plan was upgraded to 200,000 residential units.

According to statistics, there are at least 800 to 900 thousand people working in industrial towns, and the need to provide housing for them is felt more than ever due to the problems of commuting and traveling a long distance to work.

In recent days, the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development and the Chamber of Cooperation of Iran discussed the issue of providing land for the construction of residential settlements as well as the completion of semi-finished housing units in Mehr.

In this meeting, Bahman Abdollahi, the head of the Iran Cooperation Chamber, presented a report on the implementation of the construction of 200,000 residential units in the framework of the National Housing Movement, based on the memorandum of understanding concluded with the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

The Minister of Roads and Urban Development also emphasized that the issue of completing the half-finished Mehr housing units at the disposal of the cooperatives should be followed up in a special way. It was also decided to follow up on the construction of residential settlements through an agreement with non-governmental land owners.

Earlier, the deputy of labor relations of the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare emphasized that by amending the labor housing regulations and agreeing with the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, 200,000 housing units will be built for workers annually.

He expressed his hope that if the regulation is approved by the government board, the housing jump capacity will be used as the government’s main plan to build workers’ housing.

Hadi Aboui, the Secretary General of the Supreme Center of Workers’ Trade Unions, called the construction of workers’ housing near the industrial towns an effective and pioneering measure in order to solve the workers’ concerns.

While welcoming the construction of residential towns in industrial areas, he said: the construction of residential houses should be both inside factories and in industrial towns so that workers no longer have to worry about their families and being far from the workplace.

According to the Secretary General of the Supreme Center of Workers’ Trade Unions, the construction of housing near industrial towns will ensure that workers do not have problems in meeting their essential and health needs and improving the academic and educational level of their children.

He clarified: Some large and old factories built organizational houses for their workers inside the premises, which can be followed as a welfare possibility by the factories for the workers.
