Qatar seeks to develop economic relations with Iran

A member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly added: “Iran and Qatar have had valuable relations in the field of oil and exports and imports during these years, and these relations are developing.”

Referring to the relations between the two countries in the field of gas, he said: Iran, Russia and Qatar are the founders of OPEC and their cooperation in the field of gas can have a great impact on world gas prices.

Rahimi Jahanabadi stated about some other goals of the Emir of Qatar’s visit to Iran: examining the cultural problems of Iranian citizens in Qatar and also some of its citizens in Iran, Qatari investment in Iran, especially in the field of tourism and examining the issues of Yemen and Afghanistan. It is one of the issues that Qatar has tried to expand its relations with Iran in these areas.

Qatar seeks mediation between Iran and the United States

Referring to the role of Qatar in mediating the nuclear talks as another goal of the Emir of Qatar in Iran, the MP said: “Many countries in the region are concerned about the policies of the West, especially the United States in the Persian Gulf region and are trying to solve this problem.” For example, because of the mistakes and misconceptions that the Americans have about the Iranian nuclear case, Qatar is trying to convey Iran’s views to the Americans and their views to the Islamic Republic as a mediator to somehow resolve this issue.

He stressed: In the field of mediation, the Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes the mediation of countries such as Oman, Iraq, Qatar to de-escalate tensions in Iran-US relations, Iran-Saudi Arabia and Iran and some European countries. Because Iran’s approach is to create a positive and calm atmosphere in the region.

Rahimi Jahanabadi continued: The policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is that the countries of the region pursue their issues and plans without the intervention of foreign countries and the tensions of the big countries should not be transferred to the Persian Gulf region.

Regarding the impact of this mediation on bilateral relations, he said: “This issue depends on the realistic view of the West.” If the Western and European sides accept the realities of the Persian Gulf and the Middle East, they will certainly make wiser decisions.

The member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the parliament reminded: the Islamic Republic of Iran, with its military power and political influence, is one of the leading countries in the Middle East and the West must accept this fact.

He stressed: “It is in the interest of the United States and the world to end the mutual damage that began with the withdrawal of the United States from the UN Security Council. The Islamic Republic of Iran is working on this issue.”
