“Raisi”‘s trip is a turning point in relations between the two countries – Mehr News Agency | Iran and world’s news

Mehr News Agency, International Group: The English-language Tehran Times devoted the subject of today’s report to the imminent visit of Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Ra’isi to Russia.

While Iran and Russia have made serious efforts to boost economic ties, the trip is undoubtedly a turning point in relations between the two countries.

The Tehran Times writes: Russia, as a country that has always supported Iran in the face of oppressive and unilateral US sanctions, has great potential to become a close economic ally of Iran. At present, the political relations between the two countries are at a high level, while trade and economic cooperation in areas such as advanced technologies and aerospace industries are not commensurate with the capabilities of the two countries, and cooperation in this area should be enhanced. The Republic of Iran and Russia to be discussed.

The Tehran Times adds: “The progress of economic relations development plans is not commensurate with the level of expectations, and given the good political relations that are established between the two countries, this issue will be analyzed during the meeting between Seyed Ibrahim Raisi and Vladimir Putin.”

At present, the volume of trade between Iran and Russia is equal to the volume of Russian trade with some small countries, while Iran has great economic potential and is expected to increase significantly due to careful planning.

Tehran Times continues: Iran and Russia are considered neighbors through the Caspian Sea, but what strengthens their relations is the solidarity they have with each other, and the coherence of relations between the two countries, which is most of the product of mutual understanding of common threats. , Enriched by investing in opportunities and areas of common interest. The scope of relations can be assessed positively, while the two sides in various fields, especially trade and economic fields, need to deepen relations based on common interests.

In this regard, Ali Bahadori Jahromi, the spokesman of the Iranian government, recently commented on the planned visit of Seyed Ebrahim Ra’isi to Russia, and mentioned bilateral issues and trade-economic cooperation between Tehran and Moscow as topics of discussion during this visit.

Tehran Times adds: Russia was the first country to congratulate Seyed Ebrahim Ra’isi on his victory in the presidential election and the inauguration of a new government in Iran. Russian officials have predicted a stronger Moscow-Tehran relationship during his presidency.

Also on Friday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told a news conference attended by dozens of journalists that the Iranian president’s visit to Moscow was a very important event. According to the head of the Russian diplomatic service, political contacts between Moscow and Tehran must be resumed.

It is important to note that Putin and Raisi have had several telephone calls so far, but as Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh noted yesterday, the two presidents need to discuss some issues in detail.

Seyed Ibrahim Ra’isi is heading a high-level delegation to Moscow, most of which consists of ministers of economy, and it is not unreasonable to expect that various economic and industrial agreements will be signed during this trip. Also, Russia’s full support for Iran during the Vienna talks on extraterritorial and oppressive US sanctions has strengthened relations between the two countries.

“Russia is fully committed to Iran within the framework of its national capacity,” Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia’s ambassador to the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency, told the Tehran Times on January 11. We do not recognize extraterritorial sanctions and we believe that they are absolutely illegitimate and extremely unconstructive. “But the reality is that we need a solution that is acceptable to all parties.”

The Tehran Times concludes: Iran and Russia can take bilateral relations to the next level by investing in their political solidarity. Necessary steps in this regard should be taken in the same style and context that the parties have followed so far.
