Raisi’s visit to Qatar / Another step towards advancing neighborhood policy – Mehr News Agency | Iran and world’s news

Mehr News Agency, International Group: The English-language Tehran Times dedicated its report today to the importance of the policy of interaction with neighbors in the government of Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi.
“This trip also highlights the ‘neighborhood policy’ pursued by the 13th government to strengthen Iran’s relations with its many neighbors,” the daily said, referring to a two-day visit to Qatar to attend the sixth summit of gas-exporting countries. کرد.
Iran is one of the few countries with 15 neighbors, of which it shares land borders with seven countries and water borders with the rest.
When Seyyed Ibrahim Ra’isi took office in August last year, Iran’s relationship with most of its neighbors was either politically tense or lacked economic dynamism, and that was something that needed to change. In this way, the new president of Iran and his foreign policy team came to power with a clear picture of what they wanted in this area: neighborhood policy.
The aim of this new policy was to improve economic relations with its neighbors as much as possible, and this is the policy that is the main determinant in most of the foreign trips of Raeisi and his head of diplomacy, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
So far, the foreign policy record of Raisi and Amir Abdullahian has been brilliant. The first achievement was made in September last year, during the first foreign visit to Tajikistan, which was the acceptance of Iran’s permanent membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Seyyed Ibrahim Ra’isi also considered the membership in this organization as a diplomatic success, which was achieved as a continuation of the neighborhood policy.
He made a similar assessment of his visit to Qatar, saying his government had spent a lot of energy and effort developing relations with its neighbors. Raisi also said that strengthening ties with neighbors is at the heart of his foreign policy development program, and that since the beginning of his administration, the volume of trade with some neighbors has tripled, whereas in the past little attention was paid to these capacities.
In a meeting with Iranians living in Qatar, Ra’isi stressed the main goal of following the neighborhood policy of increasing exports and said: “In my talks with the Emir of Qatar and the Prime Minister of this country, I am determined to expand trade and economic relations.” There was. Therefore, Iranians living in Qatar can play a very effective role in achieving this goal.
