Charso Press: 18 years ago, Rokhshan Beni-Etamad appeared on ISNA under the pretext of showing Gilaneh movie; Republishing some of his statements at the same time as the mentioned days of the Iran-Iraq eight-year war is worth considering.

We read together some sentences of Beni-Etamad’s statements:

*** The theme of “Gilane” is war, but not only the Iran-Iraq war, in fact, a cross-border form of this war is raised, this film reflects the conditions of “Gilane”, “Ismail”, “Migal”, where dreams, hopes and Their health is the price of those conflicts that happened in other places.

*** During the war, cultural policies were subject to the conditions of that time and required a different perspective, and basically the atmosphere of war cinema in those years was not an atmosphere in which I could talk. Therefore, my point of view could not be raised in that atmosphere and conditions, it was natural that I had to come to this issue at some point to look at the war from my own angle. This condition and position was provided for me years after the war.

*** I never wanted “Gilane” to be pathetic, I wanted it to be thought-provoking.
