Receipt of VAT on imported cigarettes was announced


According to the economic correspondent of Fars News Agency, the receipt of VAT from imported tobacco was notified to the customs.

Davood Manzoor, the head of the country’s tax affairs organization, announced in a letter to Moghaddasi, the director general of customs: D) Article (26) of the said law is subject to value added tax and duties, which according to sub-sections (3), (4) and (5) of the said paragraph, VAT rate and duties on cigarettes, pipe tobacco and imported tobacco sixty and Five percent (٪ 65), imported raw tobacco is ten percent (10%) and imported processed tobacco (tobacco harvest) is thirty-five percent (35).

Pursuant to the provisions of Note (1), paragraph (d) of Article (26) of the said law, the rates set from the second year of implementation of the law shall increase by five percentage points each year until the said rates for cigarettes and tobacco products, pipe tobacco and tobacco. Imports reach one hundred and twenty-five percent (125%). Therefore, the VAT rate and duties on imports of cigarettes and tobacco products in 1401 are as follows.

Cigarettes, pipe tobacco and imported tobacco will pay 70%, imported raw tobacco 15% and imported processed tobacco 40% and VAT.
