Reduction of Syrian oil and gas production due to US sanctions

Farhan Jameel Abdullah, the CEO of the Syrian State Oil Company, said, according to the report of the International Economy Reporter of Fars News Agency, quoted by Xinhua, that the US sanctions have caused the country’s oil and gas production to decrease significantly.
He emphasized: Due to the US military presence in Syria and the country’s sanctions, Syrian oil production has increased from 385,000 barrels per day before the internal crisis to 15,000 barrels per day in the current situation. Syrian gas production has decreased from 30 million cubic meters per day to 10 million cubic meters per day.
On the sidelines of the 4th Syrian International Oil, Gas and Energy Exhibition, which is currently being held in Damascus, Abdullah emphasized that this company has increased its activities in the areas under the control of the Syrian government west of the Euphrates River in order to reduce the negative consequences of American actions. And oil wells are being drilled in 5 points with the aim of compensating for the lack of production.
In the oil, gas and energy exhibition of Syria, 55 domestic and international companies that operate in the field of oil industry, exploration and consulting have participated.
At the opening ceremony of this exhibition, Hassan Qadour, the Minister of Oil of Syria, said that the damage caused to the mining, gas and oil sectors of Syria amounted to 100 billion dollars.
