Republishing of the book “Combination of Poetry and Music”

According to the Fars News Agency, the book “Poetry and Music” with the same title as the original articles, “Combination of Poetry and Music”, was made available to those interested with re-typing, literary editing and removing gaps in the previous edition.

In the final stage, during the comparison of the previous version of the book with the articles included in the music magazine, the items that were removed from one sentence to one paragraph at the beginning or end of the article or the subtitles of the texts were re-added to the text.

The book “Combination of Poetry and Music” by Dr. Mahdi Forough was published by Khoniagar Publishing House. This book, which includes Dr. Mehdi Forough’s articles, was published after the revolution in 1362 in a book called “Poetry and Music” by Siavash publishing house. Now this book has been republished in its entirety with corrections.

Shahab Mena wrote in the introduction of this book:

When I was a teenager, in the early 1970s, when the written music literature in Iran was extremely poor and many valuable music books written before the Islamic Revolution had not been reprinted anymore, because of a thirst caught in the nakedness, most days in rest One hour in the afternoon of high school, in a hurry, in search of the music books of the predecessors, I was searching the second-hand bookstores of the Revolution Square, and like the discovery of ancient objects, among the many related or unrelated books, I sometimes found a book of the musician’s predecessors! In one of these searches, I came across the book “Music and Poetry” by Dr. Mehdi Forough, which is considered the first book published on the integration of poetry and music in Iran, and years later, I still could not find its reprint in art bookstores.

Over the years, by accessing and studying the issues of the music magazine in the 1930s, I found out that the book of poetry and music is a collection of 21 articles by Dr. Mehdi Forough entitled “Combination of poetry and music”, which were published almost consecutively in issues 17 to 41 of the third period of the music magazine, from December 1336 to March 1338, it was published and it was compiled in the mentioned book with changes (including the deletion of sentences at the beginning and end of some numbers), without reference to their source, and with the same typeface as the music magazine by Siavash publication in two occasions in the early 1960s. It’s been published.

In the literary editing of the present edition, in addition to fixing numerous typographical errors in Persian and Latin words, fixing spelling-grammatical errors, changing the order of words and the order and sequence of sentence components to make it easier to read, updating the writing style, correcting punctuation (Sajavandi) and transferring Latin equivalents. The words and terms from the text to the footnote have been considered by the editor.
