Now this group can be middle-aged and middle-aged or they can be 80s and 90s who may not know any of their contemporary history except for textbook lessons. That is why most producers, serials and filmmakers consider one of their artistic and national missions in the production of such works.

Accordingly, in a series of reports on the occasion of the dawn of Fajr and the victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, we will read the successful and significant serials of the Fajr decade that have been broadcast on various national and television channels in previous years.

One of the TV series that went on the air in the Fajr decade and the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in the form of two seasons in 1998 and 1999 was the series Jalal. The first season of this series, directed by Hassan Najafi and produced by Mehdi Karimi, and the second season, produced by Alireza Jalali, were broadcast on One Sima.

** A story in the context of the days of the Islamic Revolution of Iran

Jalal was the first chapter of a drama about social events and the days of the Islamic Revolution in the years leading up to February 1977 in East Azerbaijan. The story of the first season began in 1338 in Tabriz and continued until 1977 and the uprising of the people of East Azerbaijan.

The story of the second season of this series was also narrated from 1977 to 1983, and most of the focus of this series in the second season was on showing the characters and militant clerics of that time. The uprising of the people of Tabriz until the Revolution of 1978 and the liberation of Susangard was the focus of this season of the series.

** What was the general story of the series?

After marrying Razia, Jalal became involved in the slippers that were made for him due to his revolutionary activities in those years, and for this reason, he decided to live away from his family for several years, and after some years, he became an apprentice. In his carpet shop, he becomes one of the merchants of the carpet industry.

** Why was it adapted from the novel “The Poor”?

Usually a part of serials and movies are formed by adaptation and Jalal was no exception to this rule. Accordingly, some people in the same years of the series said that “Jalal” was an adaptation of the famous novel “The Poor”, referring to a period in Jalal’s life and his encounter with a middle-aged man and woman in which he was forgiven. They changed the course of Jalal’s life from one to another and made a great change in his destiny.

** Which actor played “Jalal”?

“Ammar Tafti” is one of the film and television actors whose talent may not have been used for a good series. But in the series Jalal, taking on the lead role, he showed the ability to be able to run a series in two seasons. In this series, they formed a loving couple by standing next to Homeira Riazi, who was able to establish a good relationship with these two audiences by showing love scenes. Season one was filmed in Tabriz and season two was filmed in Tabriz, Tehran and a southern city.

** Entering the story of leprosy

One of the things that went well in this series was leprosy. A disease that was widespread in Tabriz in those years and affected most people. Now some survived and some did not. Razieh, played by Homeira Riyazi, was one of those people who contracted leprosy during the story and just as she was away from the glory of morning and night, and the disease had spread to such an extent that half of Razieh’s face was involved.

** Unveiling of the first and second martyrs of the altar in “Jalal”

The second chapter of this series dealt with the life of the martyr Seyyed Mohammad Ali Ghazi Tabatabai (the first martyr of the Altar of the Islamic Revolution) who was one of the Shiite fighters in the Pahlavi era and was martyred in 1958. The assassination of Martyr Mir Assadollah Madani Dehkharghani (the second martyr of the Altar of the Islamic Revolution), a member of the first term of the Assembly of Experts and the Friday Imam of Tabriz and Noorabad Mamasani, who was martyred in 1960, is also depicted.

** Actor in the role of Supreme Leader in the role of Seyed Mohammad Ghazi Tabatabai

Alireza Mehran is one of the actors who has been able to show a good ability in historical serials during these years. He first started his career with the mystery and crime series of Sirus Moghaddam and then played a special role in the historical series The King’s Riddle. His role in The King’s Riddle was highly sensitive, as no actor had even been selected for such a role until then, and that was the role of the Supreme Leader. Minus the sensitivity in the makeup part that had to be done for this character in this series, the type of acting of this actor was also well directed by writer and director Mohammad Reza Varzi.

After playing in this series in the second season of Jalal, Mehran played the role of Seyyed Mohammad Ghazi Tabatabai, one of the militant clerics of the Shah’s time, from which he also received good feedback.

** Who were the actors of “Jalal” series?

Homeira Riazi, Ammar Tafti, Hadi Eftekharzadeh, Mehran Rajabi, Reza Abpak, Sena Poursaeidi, Kamyar Shakibaei, Fatemeh Shokri, Hamed Monafi and a number of East Azarbaijan TV and local actors played roles in this series.

** Jalali: I will not make a continuation of “Jalal”!

“Alireza Jalali, the producer of the second season of Jalal, in an interview with a Fars News Agency radio and television reporter, said about making a sequel to this series in the next seasons:” If this series wants to continue, I will not continue because after A year and a half have not yet met our demands, and this has bothered the group a lot.

He continued: “I support any producer who wants to make this series.” We made Jalal 2 with all our love and it is still being played, but we were unloved and I still owe it to the agents.

The producer also said about the feedback of this series: “At that time, high-cost series were made on Channel One, but our series was the second series that people voted for after the underground, and friends were aware of the audience of this series.” Even we had plans for the third season of Jalal with Mr. Najafi and we wanted to present a different story than the previous seasons, but unfortunately they broke our hearts and embarrassed me, and I am very ashamed of that.

According to Fars, seasons one and two of Jalal series were the product of the affairs of the provinces of the Radio and Television of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the center of East Azerbaijan, which aired on Channel One in 1998 and 1999.
