Reuters’ claim about Europe’s decision to violate another paragraph of Resolution 2231 – Mehr news agency | Iran and world’s news

According to the Mehr news agency, some western sources including the Reuters news agency published a report quoting four informed sources whose names were not mentioned, claiming that European diplomats told Iran are who intend to maintain the ballistic missile sanctions of the European Union against Iran, which will expire in October this year, i.e. in about 5 months, according to the 2015 nuclear agreement (JCPOA).

These sources have cited three excuses for maintaining missile sanctions against Iran: Russia’s use of Drones Iran against Ukraine, the possibility of transferring Iran’s ballistic missiles to Russia and depriving Iran of the benefits of the nuclear agreement due to Iran’s violation of this agreement after the US withdrawal.

“The Iranians have been told very clearly (about the plans to maintain sanctions) and now the question is, what will be the response and retaliatory steps of the Iranians against the maintenance of sanctions?” said a Western diplomat, who asked not to be named.

According to the UN resolution that approved the 2015 nuclear deal, the missile and weapons sanctions against Iran were supposed to expire on October 18, 2023, which is about five months from now, according to the text of the nuclear deal, but now Reuters claims that Europe has decided to lift the sanctions. Iran does not have any weapons contrary to the obligations contained in the 2015 nuclear agreement.

The sanctions also prohibit Iran from buying, selling or transferring drones and their components capable of flying more than 300 kilometers (186 miles) without authorization from the UN Security Council.

It seems that European countries are worried about increasing defense and military relations between Tehran and Moscow.

However, it is not clear whether the three European countries, England, France and Germany, have spoken about their intention to maintain EU sanctions against Iran when they met with senior Iranian officials, including Ali Bagheri Keni, Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator in Abu Dhabi. or not

The foreign ministries of England, France and Germany have not yet responded to the reports about the maintenance of arms embargoes against Iran.

In continuation of the ups and downs of the JCPOA, in the past one month, many news have been heard about the negotiations with the United States regarding the “prisoner exchange” and the topic of “negotiations to lift sanctions” and “freeing the blocked resources of the Iranian nation in some countries” and the recent visit of the Iranian Foreign Minister to Four Arab countries in the region have also been evaluated in this regard.

As the “New York Times” claimed in a report that Iran and the United States have reached an unwritten agreement with each other, according to which Iran agrees to refrain from progressing in its nuclear program, and in return, part of its blocked money in various countries is free and used for humanitarian purposes. to be

It should be noted that Iran and the United States are finalizing negotiations on “Iran’s blocked resources” in other countries in order to reach an operational framework and timetable. Therefore, “technical negotiations” are still ongoing, and the role of Qatar and Oman is prominent in this field; Because it is said that the freed resources of Iran are going to be transferred to the banks of these two countries.
