Robert Mali talks with Europeans about the Vienna talks

Mali will hold talks with senior French, German and British diplomats on the stalemate in the Vienna talks in Vienna on Friday after a four-day trip to the Gulf states, informed sources said, according to Axius.

Mali and Daniel Benayem, the US State Department’s representative on the Persian Gulf, began their regional tour in Abu Dhabi and met with National Security Adviser Tahnoon bin Zayed and UAE Presidential Advisor Anwar Gargash. They also met with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein.

Their next destination was Doha, the capital of Qatar, where US officials met with Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani. Mali then went to Saudi Arabia, which was important given the restrictions on Riyadh-Washington relations and the Iran-Saudi dialogue.
According to the official Saudi news agency, Mali consulted with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan on Iran’s nuclear program and regional activities. The US Special Representative for Iran also had a telephone conversation with the Bahraini Foreign Minister.
Following the regional actions of US officials, Mali plans to travel to Europe to discuss the UN Security Council with European diplomats. Iranian President Seyed Ibrahim Raisi said on Monday that Iran had never left the negotiating table and was serious about nuclear talks. He added that the other side could show its seriousness by being ready to lift the sanctions.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian also called UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Tuesday and said that Ali Bagheri, Iran’s chief negotiator, would travel to Brussels next week to hold talks with Enrique Mora, deputy secretary general of the European Union’s foreign action service.
