Russia announces two possible dates for resumption of Vienna talks – Mehr News Agency | Iran and world’s news

Commenting on the results of the seventh round of talks with Iran, Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia’s permanent representative to international organizations based in Vienna, said on Friday that the eighth round of Vienna talks could be in late December or early January 2022, Mehr news agency reported quoting Tass. To begin.

“There is no complete transparency on the date of the resumption of talks,” Ulianov said. The issue of the next round of talks between the participants is open. As far as I know, there are two options: either resume negotiations on December 27, at least at the expert level. “Or in the eighth round of talks, on January 3, when everyone is ready for it, the talks will resume, in any case, the Russian delegation is ready without interruption.”

Ulyanov also stressed that cooperation between Russia and the United States in the Vienna talks on reviving the Iran nuclear deal is practical, and that this cooperation serves the interests of both countries.

“As the head of the Russian delegation, I am very satisfied with the quality of cooperation with Robert Mali, the US special envoy for Iran, who is chairing the US delegation to these talks,” the Russian envoy said.

He described the two countries’ efforts as promising because they had led to serious progress in the seventh round of the Vienna talks.

“Our co-operation is quite practical,” Ulyanov added. The United States and Russia are interested in reviving the Comprehensive Joint Action Plan (CJAP) and lifting US sanctions on the Donald Trump administration. This is the basis on which we can work together. “I hope this cooperation will continue.”

Earlier, Mikhail Ulyanov announced the end of the Joint Commission meeting on Friday evening. He tweeted: The meeting of the Joint Commission of the UN Security Council and the seventh round of talks in Vienna is over. Negotiations will resume soon.

Also on Friday evening, Ali Bagheri, Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator, told Al-Mayadin that the Western negotiators agreed with Iran’s new proposals. He added: “In the seventh round of talks, we announced our views on the previous talks between the Iranian delegation and the P5 + 1.” Bagheri said: “The most important point about the negotiations is that the other side did not agree with our new view on the negotiations and the start of a new round of talks.”
