Russia asked Turkey to refrain from a full-scale attack on Syria
According to the report of Fars International News Agency, “Alexander Lavrentiev”, Russia’s special representative for Syrian affairs, said on Wednesday (November 23, 2 Azar) that Moscow asked Ankara to refrain from a full-scale ground attack in Syria, because such actions could lead to the escalation of violence.
According to Reuters, he made these statements after the new round of talks about Syria with Turkish and Iranian delegations in Kazakhstan and added: We hope our arguments will be heard in Ankara and other ways to solve the problem will be found.
Earlier, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said about Turkey’s threats to carry out ground operations in northern Syria: We ask all sides in northern Syria to show restraint. Everyone must refrain from destabilizing actions throughout Syria.
Meanwhile, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said today (Wednesday) during a speech to the parliamentary representatives of the Justice and Development Party: the air operation in northern Syria has just begun. We will also start ground operations at the most suitable time for us.
