According to the news agency «ReutersRussia’s Russia-One network has announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin will host a summit next week, and that one of the topics of the trip is to resolve issues related to the revival of the nuclear deal.

The Russian television network did not provide details about the date of the trip or its axes, Reuters reported.

Fars News Agency had previously reported that the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran will pay a visit to Russia later this week and is scheduled to meet with the Russian President.

“This is an important meeting and communication must continue at the highest level,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told an annual news conference on Friday. Recently, however, these communications have been influenced by Covid-19. The presidents of the two countries have spoken by telephone, but the face-to-face meeting will be more productive. “The importance of this meeting is in the need to implement the notes on all issues and agendas, especially with regard to the change of the presidency of the Iranian government, and we must analyze the guarantee of the continuation of economic exchanges and other areas.”

“When there are a lot of joint projects, we have to pay attention to details and the government is working on it, the commission headed by the energy ministers should have a share in these talks,” Lavrov added. There are also issues in the field of international policy, the UN Security Council, the general situation in the Persian Gulf, which have recently been discussed between the two sides. Our agenda includes cooperation with the United Nations and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. “Iran is a member of a team that defends the principles of international law, not a limited series of small group agreements.”

“Iran is also a member of the group defending the UN Charter,” the Russian foreign minister said. We have close cooperation in Syria on some regional issues. We are a member of the Astana Summit along with Turkey. This is a great example of how the two countries unite around a common goal despite different perspectives. “When it was concluded that the establishment of a platform to help Syria was feasible, the Astana Troika and the Syrian Congress helped draft a document that is now the framework for the talks and has greatly helped to strengthen the Syrian talks.” (More details)
