In a letter to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, Russia’s ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations, Vassily Nebenzia, expressed concern over the non-issuance of US visas to members of the Russian delegation to participate in the UN General Assembly.

The representative of Putin’s government said that America, as the host country of the United Nations, is obliged to guarantee the participation of delegations in the events of the United Nations.

According to Vasily Nebenzia, the US government has repeatedly refused to grant visas to Russian representatives in the United Nations in the last few months.

Pointing out that the United States, as the host of the UN headquarters, is legally required to grant visas, the Russian representative asked Guterres to once again remind the US authorities that all Russian representatives, including journalists covering Lavrov’s trip, should be issued visas immediately. to issue

It should be noted that the Russian delegation to participate in the 77th UN General Assembly consists of 56 people headed by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

According to reports, the United States has refused to issue visas to members of Russian delegations in order to participate in UN events in the past few months.

In the past few months, the US authorities have consistently denied visas to a number of Russian delegations that were supposed to participate in official UN events.

The meeting of the United Nations General Assembly, which traditionally hosts the leaders and ministers of the countries of the world, will start on September 20 (29 Shahrivar).

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is scheduled to deliver a speech at the 77th UN General Assembly on September 24.
