Ryzen 7 7840U processor in Cinebench – faster than R9 6980HX

AMD’s Ryzen 7040 Phoenix laptop processors are just starting to appear on benchmarks, and recently, the performance results of the 8-core Ryzen 7 7840U processor have been published in Cinebench R23.

Ryzen 7 7840U processor in Cinebench R23

Previously, we had seen the performance results of the Ryzen 5 7640U processor on Geekbench. This processor was one of the first Ryzen 7000 laptop processors that AMD officially unveiled. Now, it’s the turn of the Ryzen 7 7840U processor in Cinebench R23.

The Ryzen 7 7840U processor is another APU for Phoenix series laptops by AMD company, which has an energy consumption of 15-28 watts. This processor is an 8-core and 16-core processor based on the Zen 4 architecture, and inside, it is also equipped with Radeon 780M RDNA 3 internal graphics. In the Cinebench R23 benchmark, this processor was able to operate at a maximum frequency of 3.3 GHz, which is 500 MHz lower than the Ryzen 7 7840HS processor, but let’s not forget that the 7840HS processor is a 54-watt processor. We still do not have detailed information about the final frequencies of the Phoenix series processors, and AMD has not announced their official specifications.

As we said, the performance results of the Ryzen 7 7840U processor have been published in the Cinebench R23 multi-core test, and the results, by the way, are promising. This processor managed to score 14,771 points, which is higher than the 45-watt Ryzen 9 6980HX processor. The performance of this processor is also more than 40% better than the 8-core Ryzen 7 6800U processor with Zen3+ architecture.

Ryzen 7040U Phoenix laptop processors such as R7 7840U and R5 7640U processors are scheduled to be available for thin and light laptops and ultrabooks by the end of the current quarter. These processors are still in the development phase and their performance will be even better after the development is completed.
