Saint Nishan Church in Gharghan village

Gharghan village in Faridan city, whose name is also an Armenian word, was the place of Armenians in the past, but in recent years, a handful of Armenians remained in this area and most of them migrated. Nevertheless, the doors of the Church of St. Nishan or the Holy Sign are opened to the Christian and Armenian compatriots every year on various occasions. Various rites are performed in this church, which are interpreted as “mysteries of the church”. This church was registered in the national register on 22 February 2006. Most of the villages of Faridan were Armenians in the past, Saint Nishan or Holy Nishan church was built in 1903 AD (1281 AD) and rebuilt in 1980 AD (1358 AD) based on the wooden inscriptions left inside the church.

The area of Saint Nishan Church is 2000 square meters and the area of the main building is 200 square meters. The interior of the church building is brick and has eight wooden columns, some of which have inscriptions carved on them. The walls of the outer area of the church are also made of stone and soil.
