Samsung enables voice simulation to answer calls

Audio clones or simulated voices are spreading rapidly and will probably enter our daily lives much sooner than we expect. Samsung today released a feature for its Bixby personal assistant that allows you to ask the device to simulate your voice with the help of artificial intelligence to answer calls.

Samsung says that if someone called you and you couldn’t answer them out loud, you can type your answer and the company’s personal assistant will read it to the contact in your voice. This feature is currently only available for the Bixby Custom Voice Creator app in Korean, and only Galaxy S23 series products can use it.

Additionally, the sound quality may not be as good, and the lag between you typing your response and Bixby reading it probably won’t be conducive to a smooth conversation. But this capability in itself is very attractive and moves in the direction of current artificial intelligence technologies.

Samsung had previously provided users with a similar feature called Bixby Text Call, but it used a preset voice instead of the person’s own voice. Google also allows you to answer spam calls with automatic voices with a feature called Call Screen. But Google technology only allows you to choose a few specific answers and you cannot type the answer you want.

Considering the path that artificial intelligence tools have taken, we should probably expect these capabilities to improve day by day. Samsung says that user voice generation with the help of artificial intelligence will be used in other applications of this company in the future.
