Samsung exponential power with 200 megapixel sensor

Study time: <1 Minutes

For several years now, Samsung’s flagship phones, despite their sensor numbers, have not been able to perform as well as other flagships in the camera segment; But as always, Samsung has not given up and wants to re-enter the megapixel war.

The company recently unveiled a 200-megapixel sensor for handsets called the Isocell HP1; At that time, except for basic information, Samsung did not offer much to the interested parties.

Now, in an unknowing move, Samsung has printed an image of a cat on a 22-by-28-meter billboard, claiming that the image was captured using the same 12-megapixel sensor; This is about half the size of a basketball court.

Samsung says the sensor will take mobile phone cameras to a new dimension, allowing users to enlarge or crop images without compromising quality; According to Hyuk Lee, one of Samsung’s engineers, this is one of the advantages of the Isocell HP1 sensor.

The image of the cat was captured by combining prototype kits with Samsung’s 200-megapixel sensor, and apparently the sensor has not yet been optimized for capturing moving subjects.

Interestingly, Samsung does not intend to use this sensor for its flagships for the first time; According to reports, the Isocell HP1 sensor will be installed for the first time on Motorola’s new flagship, codenamed Frontier.
