Samsung is likely working on a 450MP camera sensor for smartphones

Apparently, the period of camera optimization is over again and we have to prepare ourselves for the megapixel war in the world of smartphones, because after 108 and 200 megapixel sensors, now apparently Samsung It wants a sensor 450 megapixels Make for mobiles.

Samsung recently trademarked “Hexa2pixel” in South Korea registered Of course, the same sign has been registered in Europe. Although there is no mention of a camera sensor or even a 450 megapixel resolution in this trademark, fans of this Korean brand have a different opinion.

Samsung’s 450MP camera sensor coming?

Currently, Samsung has a 200 megapixel ISOCELL HP1 camera sensor in its portfolio, which can take 12.5 megapixel photos with its own Pixel Binning technology, Tetra2pixel. Now, if we consider this technology for Hexa2pixel, we will face a combination of 36 pixels by 1 pixel, which results in a 450 megapixel sensor resolution.

Although we are dealing with only one brand and we don’t have any solid evidence for the development of such a sensor, if the speculations are true, we still shouldn’t expect a 450MP sensor from Samsung in the near future.

In any case, Samsung has registered the Hexa2pixel trademark and will probably use it in the future, but we still don’t know exactly which technology this mark will be used for. In addition, the physical size of this sensor will not be too large due to the combination of 36 x 1 pixels.

Finally, we have not yet seen the major entry of 200 megapixel sensors into the market and phones equipped with them, so we are at least two or three years away from the release of a product with a 450 megapixel sensor; Of course, if the Samsung brand really refers to such a sensor.
