Samsung 200 megapixel sensor capabilities

Last summer, Samsung unveiled the Isocell HP1 sensor as the first 200-megapixel camera for the mobile world. At the time of its introduction, it was claimed that the HP1 isocell provided the highest image resolution in the history of Samsung’s mobile sensor development. In fact, the tech giant has used a kind of pixel binning technology called ChamelonCell for its sensor, which provides a better output based on ambient light.

Samsung’s upcoming camera sensor is also capable of capturing 30fps video at 8K resolution without digital cropping. Although not officially announced yet, one can expect the tech giant to use this powerful camera sensor for its next flagship Galaxy S series. There are also rumors that Motorola is working on a high-end phone with a 200-megapixel rear camera.

It should be noted that mobile phones were not used to test the sensor, but Samsung has designed a custom board that can show its true and flawless potential. Although the result of Samsung’s work is very impressive, you can not expect the phones that use this sensor to always take photos with a full resolution of 200 megapixels.
