Samsung to double Exinus chip by 2022

From next year, Samsung plans to reduce its dependence on third-party chip makers such as Qualcomm and MediaTek and increase the production capacity of Exynos proprietary chips.
According to the Electronic Times, since 2022, the number of Samsung Galaxy series phones using Exynos chips has doubled or tripled. Increases And System LSI will more than double its production capacity for Exynos chips.
Samsung, the world’s leading maker of mobile phones, is also among the other companies that make their own chips. However, unlike Apple, the South Korean tech giant also uses chips from other companies such as Qualcomm and MediaTek, in addition to the Exynos proprietary chip. Most Samsung phones currently use third-party chips, but now it looks like that will change in the future.
Currently, only about 20% of all Samsung phones are shipped using the company’s proprietary Exynos series chips. Qualcomm, on the other hand, excels in the mid-range and premium handsets market, and many new low-end handsets also use MediaTek chips.
One of the reasons given for this decision is the lack of a global chip. Samsung has been forced to delay the launch of the Galaxy S21 FE several times due to a shortage of Snapdragon 888 chips, and it is now set to launch in January next year. This has dealt a huge blow to the sales and supply plan of the Korean technology giant.
Samsung is expected to unveil the Exynos 2200 chip soon, which is said to surpass the iPhone 12 chip with AMD graphics processor and will be more powerful than Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 895 chip. The chip’s benchmark results also show that its AMD 6-core GPU delivers up to 34% better performance than the Exynos 2100.
