Samsung will unveil the world’s largest folding screen in 2023

Samsung is one of several tech brands planning to launch large foldable displays in 2023. But apparently, this brand intends to surpass its competitors by offering a bigger screen than others. In fact, it is Samsung The largest laptop equipped with a folding screen in the world to introduce
This Korean brand has been at the forefront of the foldable display market since 2019 with the release of the Galaxy Fold with a 7.3-inch internal display that can be changed to the size of a tablet. Now, after several generations of improvements, such as water resistance, S-Pen and fast charging, this time Samsung has decided to expand the screen size of its devices and release the world’s largest laptop equipped with a folding screen.
The company is going to use 17.3-inch OLED panels from its subsidiary Samsung Display. These panels fold diagonally up to 13.3 inches when folded. Using folding panels made in the subsidiary company of this brand will definitely help to reduce its price.
Big screen launch in 2023
Other brands are also set to release giant folding devices in 2023. One of these brands is HP. The brand will unveil its first 17-inch foldable laptop with an LG-made screen that turns into an 11-inch device when folded. This device will be one of the main competitors of the Samsung device, as they are going to be released around the same time.
According to reports, Samsung had plans to launch its 17.3-inch display in 2022. However, the unveiling of the device was delayed for unknown reasons. If the foldable phone were to be released this year, it could compete with other foldable laptops like the Asus ZenBook 17 Fold and the ThinkPad X1 Fold Gen 2. The Asus ZenBook 17 Fold laptop’s hardware specs are significantly weaker than what Samsung’s foldable phone offers, with a 17-inch BOE display that folds down to a 12.6-inch device. The ThinkPad X1 Fold Gen 2 also has a 16.3-inch OLED screen, which shrinks to 12 inches when folded.
Some reports suggest that there isn’t much demand for large foldable displays yet. In general, they are still very expensive for the consumer. The Asus ZenBook 17 Fold retails for $3,500 and the ThinkPad X1 Fold Gen 2 retails for $2,500. Asus specifically ordered 10,000 flexible OLED panels from BOE, and HP ordered the same amount from LG.
It is worth mentioning that Samsung increased its order of flexible OLED panels from 6 million to 8.5 million after postponing the launch of its device.
