“Sanam Agha” bypasses Iran
The theatrical group “Sanam Agha” will soon start performing this play in one of the provinces of the country, with the hope of performing it in different cities, in late summer in Tehran.
Theater News Base: “Sanam Agha” directed by Hassan Abedi and produced by Vahid Lak has been prepared for performance for some time, but it is supposed to start working with North Khorasan Province.
Hassan Abedi stated in this regard: The play “Sanam Agha” has been produced in Tehran for the past two months, but contrary to the usual performance routine, Mr. Lak and I decided to start performing this play in other provinces; Because this type of theater exchange between the provinces was important to us, we therefore emphasized that we should select the actors of this play from among the best provincials living in Tehran to use this capacity. It will be staged in the halls of this city and maybe later it will be performed in other cities, we will perform our work in Tehran at the end of the summer.
He added: “Sanam Agha” performance will start from North Khorasan, which was ready to be welcomed in this province. The play has eight performances from the 9th to the 12th of Khordad, and then we will continue in several other provinces that have been discussed.
Asked about his predictions for a newly produced play outside of Tehran, he said: The provinces were cut off, we are not looking for much income, that is, the group is ready to be able to perform the play with the special conditions of each province to have experience; Of course, experience does not mean that the members of the group are inexperienced, but we want a theater to run in Iran and the executive agents of the provinces to participate in it, because we intend to perform executive works such as lighting and decor with the theaters of the provinces.
According to Abedi, “Sanam Agha” is the story of a woman named Sanam, who was martyred during the aerial bombardment of Tehran in 1986 in the Khazaneh neighborhood while she was pregnant, but she was forgotten and spent years looking for her missing husband.
The director of the play reminded that Somayeh Rezaei from Kermanshahi, Ahmad Jafari from Ilam and Simin Behfar from Kurd, who all live in Tehran, play in “Sanam Agha”.
Mohammad Shakeri (director’s consultant), Masoud Zamani (stage designer), Ardavan Zeini Souq (project manager) and Ali Yazdani (production manager) are other actors in this play.
