The Saudi Foreign Ministry called the assassination of Iraqi Prime Minister al-Kadhimi a cowardly terrorist attack.

According to Sputnik, the Saudi Foreign Ministry announced that the assassination attempt was condemned by Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi, calling it a “cowardly terrorist attack.”

The Saudi Foreign Ministry condemns the cowardly terrorist attack on the Iraqi Prime Minister. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms that it stands by the Iraqi government and people in the fight against terrorism. The Saudi Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Twitter that undermining Iraq’s security and stability and preventing its growth and prosperity was futile.

Efforts against al-Kadhimi were also condemned by Egypt, Lebanon, Qatar, the UAE and Kuwait.

Iraqi Prime Minister’s residence in Baghdad was targeted by a drone, media reported Sunday night. The local prime minister, INA, was later quoted as saying by Iraqi security agencies that the prime minister was unharmed in an attempt to carry out a drone strike. Al-Kazemi himself confirmed on Twitter that he was fine. At the same time, according to Shafaq News Agency, three bodyguards of the Prime Minister were injured. The Iraqi Interior Ministry called the assassination a terrorist attack and confirmed that three drones had been sent to the prime minister’s residence, two of which had been shot down.
