Scorsese met with Pope Francis to make a new film

According to the film reporter of Fars News Agency, quoted by The GuardianAfter meeting with the Pope, Martin Scorsese announced that he will make another film about Jesus Christ.

Scorsese, the most influential Catholic director of cinema, incited the anger of Catholics in the world with his film in 1988 titled “The Last Temptation of Christ”.

Martin Scorsese is reportedly set to follow up his acclaimed crime saga about the massacre of Native Americans in the 1920s with another Jesus Christ film.

Scorsese, fresh from the enthusiastic reception of “The Full Moon Killers” at the Cannes Film Festival, is currently in Italy to participate in a series of religious and film events.

“I have responded to the pope’s request for artists in the only way I know how: by imagining and writing a script for a film about Jesus Christ,” Scorsese, 80, said Saturday at a Vatican conference.

“And I’m about to build it,” he added.

Scorsese’s reps told The Guardian they had no further information on the project beyond what the director had already provided.

It should be noted that Mel Gibson’s media representatives have recently rejected suggestions that he wants to film a sequel to the Passion of the Christ.

Scorsese and his wife, Helen Morris, were in Rome to attend a conference on the “Global Aesthetics of the Catholic Imagination” and briefly met with Pope Francis.
