According to the online economy report; Suzuki has finally unveiled the new generation of the Grand Vitara. Suzuki Grand Vitara is the latest SUV introduced by this Japanese car manufacturer, which is equipped with a mild hybrid system with automatic charging, exactly the same as its cousin, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Highrider.
The new Suzuki Grand Vitara should be considered the sibling of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Highrider, and just like this car, it has been unveiled in India. But Suzuki plans to launch the 2022 Grand Vitara in other global markets, including Africa.
This car has been produced in Japan since 1988 and assembled in Canada, Spain, Ecuador and Argentina and since 2018 in Iran under the name of Grand Vitara. Now, with the unveiling of the new generation of Grand Vitara, fans of this car will impatiently wait for Suzuki to appear again in Iran.
Appearance of Suzuki Grand Vitara 2022
The 2022 Suzuki Grand Vitara has tried to hide its relationship with the Toyota Urban Cruiser Highrider. However, the room and most of the body panels of these two cars are shared with each other. Suzuki Grand Vitara has dual headlights like Toyota Urban Cruiser Highrider.
But the daytime running lights of this car have become narrower and apparently a larger grille with dark chrome trim or shiny chrome trim has been installed for this car. Also, the air intake inside the bumper is smaller and the design of the headlights is harsh and aggressive.
While the 2022 Suzuki Grand Vitara shares its side profile with its Toyota sibling, the rear looks different thanks to the installation of dark-themed all-round LED lights. The installation of protective plates under the body in the front and rear, as well as the presence of plastic fenders in the wheel arches, remind the viewer of the off-road nature of the Suzuki Grand Vitara.
Technical specifications of Suzuki Grand Vitara 2022
Suzuki Grand Vitara 2022 has a length, width and height of 4345, 1795 and 1645 mm, respectively, with a distance between two axles of 2600 mm.
The distance between the two axles of this car is the same as that of the Suzuki S Cross, and it is about 100 mm longer than the regular model of the new Suzuki Vitara. It should be noted that all three models are developed on the TECT platform, which is also known as Suzuki’s global C platform.
Suzuki Grand Vitara 2022 comes with two different engines. The basic version has a Progressive Smart Hybrid engine, which consists of a 1.5-liter K series gasoline engine and a 12-volt mild hybrid system and a 6-amp-hour lithium-ion battery, which together can produce 101 horsepower and 135 Nm is the torque.
The production force is transferred to the front wheels or to all four wheels by a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission with a shifter pedal.
It should be noted that the cousin of this car, the Toyota Hirider, only had a front-wheel drive power transmission system. But Suzuki has installed its popular All-Grip all-wheel drive system with auto, snow, sport and varnish driving modes for the Grand Vitara.
The second engine is a full hybrid engine called Intelligent Electric Drive. This engine is provided by Toyota and consists of a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and a more powerful electric motor, an integrated starter generator and a lithium-ion battery, which together are capable of producing 114 horsepower and 141 Nm of torque.
This power is transmitted to the front wheels by an e-CVT gearbox. Four different driving modes, including eco, power, normal and electric, are installed for this model. Even though this engine is considered a self-charging hybrid, thanks to its relatively large battery, it can travel up to 25 kilometers in traffic.
Suzuki Grand Vitara 2022 cabin
The cabin of the new Suzuki Grand Vitara is similar to the Toyota Urban Cruiser Highrider, and only the color trim is different. The Suzuki trim is black and crimson brown with synthetic leather upholstery in the same color for the seats, dashboard and doors.
Of course, it is possible to order upholstery in all black. In the middle console, quasi-aluminum trim or golden trim can be seen around the keys related to the two-channel ventilation adjustment of this car.
A 9-inch touch screen is installed in the middle of the dashboard, which has connection ports and audio assistance system. In the more equipped models of Suzuki Grand Vitara 2022, a 7-inch digital display is installed behind the steering wheel along with a head-up display.
Other features of this car include a panoramic sunroof, front seat cooler, wireless charging pad for mobile phones, premium audio system, 360-degree camera, and air conditioning system for the rear seats.
In terms of safety, Suzuki Grand Vitara 2022 has six airbags, hill descent control and ADAS driving assistance system.
The Suzuki Grand Vitara is going to be produced by Toyota in India alongside the Toyota Urban Cruiser Highrider. The price of Suzuki Grand Vitara 2022 will be announced soon, and the competitors of this car include Hyundai Creta and Skoda Koshak.
