Sending 650 tons of food from Iraq to Syrian earthquake victims


According to the report of the International Economic Group of Fars News Agency, citing the Iraqi State News Agency (WAA), the Secretariat of the Iraqi Government announced that a new convoy full of medical and food aid was prepared and sent to the Syrian people yesterday Thursday.

Haider Majid, the spokesman of the Secretariat of the Iraqi Government, said that following the recent earthquake in Su Rih, he has launched a campaign to send relief aid to the brotherly nation of Syria under the supervision of the non-governmental organization department.

He also said that the convoy carrying eight tons of medical supplies and first aid and five tons of food has moved and the campaigns will continue to help the brotherly people of Syria.

The spokesperson of the Secretariat of the Government of Iraq announced that the Ministry of Commerce of this country has so far sent 650 tons of food including rice, sugar, beans and edible oil to help Syrian citizens following the recent earthquake.

Majid emphasized that the air bridge will continue to provide aid to Syria and Turkey, and teams of experts were also sent to help the Syrian relief forces.

Since the early hours of the earthquake in Syria, the Iraqi government has sent aid to the Syrian earthquake victims by building an air bridge with this country.

The Popular Mobilization Organization of Iraq has also shown its serious participation in sending troops and helping the people affected by the earthquake in Syria.

On Tuesday, the Iraqi Ministry of Oil announced the dispatch of an urgent convoy to Syria, including 28 tankers carrying gasoline and diesel.
