Finally, after many years, the ability to send photos with original quality will be added to the WhatsApp messenger. This feature is currently in testing.

With two billion monthly active users, WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps in the world. In addition to sending text messages, most users use this communication application to share photos, videos, and memes. To help reduce server load and save storage space on your phone, WhatsApp shares all photos in compressed form.

Since the compression of photos usually reduces the quality and thus limits its use, now this messenger is working on the ability to send photos with original quality. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp plans to soon provide the ability to share photos without any compression. This database has announced the addition of the mentioned feature to the beta version of Android 2.23.2.11.

Thus, while sharing images, a new settings icon has been designed in the header of the tool through which you can change the image quality from compressed to original before sending. Currently, it doesn’t seem like this feature works for sending videos.

Earlier in the middle of 2021, WhatsApp added three options Data, Auto Saver and Best Quality to its messenger by changing photo sharing capabilities. However, the difference in resolution between each was not very noticeable. For example, images shared with Data Saver quality were sent at 0.9MP resolution, and the Best Quality option was compressed at 1.4MP resolution. In this day and age, sending images with such a low resolution is not very useful.

The ability to send photos in original quality on WhatsApp was delayed for a long time, and with the addition of this feature in the future, it will undoubtedly be greatly appreciated. Telegram, the powerful competitor of this messenger, has long offered an option to share images in original quality in addition to the default image compression. Currently, this feature is under development and it is not known for sure when it will be added to the final version of WhatsApp messenger.
