Sending satellite antennas to Ukraine by the Pentagon

According to Fars News Agency, the United States has announced that it will send satellite communication antennas to Kiev in order to help Ukraine in its war with Russia.

News sources The Pentagon is sending four satellite dishes to Ukraine as part of its recently announced $275 million aid package, it was reported on Tuesday.

Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said: “These antennas will make Ukrainian forces more effective and at the same time give the country’s leaders better command and control capabilities.”

A Pentagon spokesman said: “These antennas are not intended to replace a service like Starlink, but to help the Ukrainians enhance their communications efforts on the battlefield.”

Meanwhile, Russian forces have attacked Ukraine’s communication lines and increased their attacks on the country’s infrastructure in order to weaken the country’s ability to carry out counterattacks. Ukraine’s telecommunications and security sectors are still the main targets of Russian attacks.

“We are seeing the Russians target Ukrainian infrastructure and power grids, and these antennas provide additional capability at a critical time when Ukrainian infrastructure is being hit,” the Pentagon spokesman added.

The tensions between the United States and Russia over Ukraine have gained new dimensions and both sides have threatened each other to target space and satellite infrastructures.

Paramilitary infrastructure may be a legitimate target for a retaliatory attack, Konstantin Vorontsov, deputy director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s non-proliferation and arms control department, said recently.

“We are talking about the involvement of the United States and its allies in civilian space infrastructure,” Vorontsov said.

Following these statements, Washington warned Moscow against destroying American satellites.

“I’m just saying that any attack on American infrastructure will be met with a proportionate response,” John Kirby, the National Security Council’s strategic communications coordinator, said on Thursday.

Earlier, news sources claimed that the Russian army plans to target Western spy satellites with its “S-500” missile supersystem (more details).
