Seven-year support for software updates on the Galaxy S24 series

The Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus and Galaxy S24 Ultra phones have finally been announced after most of their specifications were leaked. Now, based on a new report, it has been announced that these phones will receive Android updates and One UI for up to 7 years. Previously, the news of the seven-year update of the Samsung Galaxy S24 series was revealed.

According to A new report, Samsung has confirmed that in line with the company’s environmental initiatives, the Galaxy S24 series will receive software updates for seven years after launch. Samsung usually provided software coverage for its previous phones and flagships for up to 4 years.

These updates include new versions of Android and One UI and new security patches. Since the Galaxy S24 series ships with Android 14, Android 21, which Google may rebrand by then, will be the last OS upgrade for the series.

However, it’s worth noting that longer software support likely means that future versions of Android and One UI won’t bring much change to Samsung’s Galaxy devices. More precisely, more updates could probably come with fewer changes. All in all, don’t expect to see major updates to the series after three or four years.

It also remains to be seen whether factors such as the availability of the phone’s internal components will pose a problem for Samsung’s ambitious seven-year plan. Owners of the Galaxy S24, S24 Plus, and S24 Ultra may at least have to replace their phone’s battery every few years, and of course Samsung should make such consumables available.
