Several US government agencies were targeted by cyber attacks

According to the report of Fars International News Agency, the American media reported the hacking of several federal organizations today and wrote that this event is part of a wider hacker attack that has targeted dozens of companies and organizations in the United States in recent weeks.
The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), America’s main cybersecurity watchdog, said Thursday it was still investigating the scale of the attacks.
“CISA is providing assistance to several federal agencies that have been compromised,” said Eric Goldstein, deputy director of the American agency. We are trying to understand the effects of this attack and correct it in time.”
NBC News reported that data hackers used a vulnerability in a program called MOVEIt, which is a popular tool for fast data transfer. This vulnerability was previously unknown.
Charles Carmacal, director of the technology department of Mandiant, which operates in the field of cyber security, said that he has been informed that the data of some US federal agencies has been stolen through the hacking of the MOVEIt program.
It is not yet clear whether the stolen data was sensitive or whether the hackers disrupted government systems.
Last week, the FBI warned that a hacker group called CLOP was exploiting a previously unknown vulnerability in the MOVEIt program.
Reports indicate that this group used this vulnerability of the program to steal files from at least 47 organizations and then threatened them that the stolen files would be released if they did not pay.
