Shahab: I did not come to Tokyo just with a supportive look

According to IRNA’s correspondent in Tokyo, after failing to win a bronze medal in the 58 kg weight category at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Women’s Taekwondo Championships, Raiha Shahab said: Given that my opponent today (Amy Trussdale from England) is ranked one in the world, I thought it would be hard to defeat her, but during the match I was even ahead at some point.

He continued: “I was ahead of my opponent until the middle of the match, but he was ahead of me for a while and although I tried hard and fought, I lost by 10 points and did not reach the bronze medal.”

“I was sent to Tokyo with the support of the National Paralympic Committee, but today it went beyond expectations and was a short distance from the Paralympic medal and history-making,” Shahab said. And I did not come to Tokyo just to look supportive. They must have seen something in me that sent me to the Paralympics. This is the Paralympics and not just continental and world competitions.

Asked how she sees her future in parachuting, she said: “In this short time, I tried hard and day and night for the Paralympic medal, but I did not achieve my goal.” I will definitely try to get better and better day by day and make progress.
