Shahroud is the second largest city in Semnan province and in terms of geographical location, it is located on the main route of Tehran-Mashhad transit road and in the international belt from east to west. This city is moderately cold in most of the months of the year and it is divided into two regions, the central part including Shahroud and the suburbs, moderate and the southern part such as Tarood, Biyarajmand and Khartoran, which is moderately warm. Shahroud is located between the desert, mountains and forests of northern Iran and has a very pristine and attractive nature. The vast deserts of Turud and its groves and the people who make a living from camel herding are among the eye-catching features of this region.
The north of Shahrood has a forested nature like Golestan and Mazandaran, and the east is a cold and snowy region like the nature and climate of Kurdistan and Lorestan. “Vendidad Avesta” is one of the oldest names of Shahrood, which is included along with the names of sixteen Aryan lands. Historically, Shahroud is considered one of the cities with cultural and historical tourism attractions. Bayazid Bastami court in Bastam and the tomb of Sheikh Abolhasan Khargani in Kharghan are considered to be the most important historical areas of Shahrood. Green and old plane trees located in the streets and gardens of this city are one of the natural attractions of this city. “Burnt plantain” is one of the oldest plantain trees in this city, which is also registered in the national heritage list.

Abar forest is one of the most famous and beautiful natural attractions in Iran, which is located 45 km north of Shahroud and 12 km from Abar village. Abar Shahroud Cloud Forest is one of the oldest forests in the world and a part of the Hyrcanian forests, which are millions of years old and belong to the Jurassic era. This forest is covered with clouds for most days of the year and because of its large size, many different animal and plant species live in it. Eastern Alborz with Shahvar peak and other peaks is the source of many rivers that flowed towards Gorgan and earlier towards Shahroud.
Turan National Park, which is located in the desert area of this city and is the main habitat of Iranian cheetah, is located in this area. “Alochal waterfall and Dalan Behesht Jangal Abar, palm groves, beautiful waterfall and spring of Tash Alia village, Majen waterfall and Negarman village, etc. are among the tourist attractions of Shahrood city. The local language of these villages is Mazandarani. Fruits such as apricots, gooseberries, peaches, cherries, cherries, etc. are among the delicacies of this city.
Olang forest is another sightseeing place in Shahrood, which is located 50 km from Shahrood road to Azadshahr. Olang in Turkish means high and windy heights. This beautiful forest has a very mild climate in spring and summer and has a lovely view.
