Sharia supervisors are added to the structure of banks

Citing the public relations of the Central Bank, Dr. Salehabadi said this evening in front of the members of the “Jurisprudential Working Group of the Central Bank” in Qom, stating that the transformation of the banking system based on compliance with jurisprudential principles will be seriously pursued in this period: In this regard, and in the first stage, the Central Bank’s oversight area is obliged to continuously review the performance of banks in implementing Sharia principles in the form of specific forms.

The highest official of the Central Bank continued: “Also, the framework for adding people as religious observers in the Bank Implementation Committee is being developed in order to implement and monitor the approvals of the jurisprudential council in this council.”

Salehabadi reminded: In this regard, the list of people who will be qualified by the jurisprudential council will be provided to banks.

The Governor of the Central Bank also stressed the need to teach jurisprudential and sharia rules in the field of banking to senior managers and all personnel of the banking network and expressed hope that this process will lead to the improvement of banking processes in line with the implementation of Islamic banking principles.

Ayatollah Mesbahi Moghaddam, Chairman of the Jurisprudential Council of the Central Bank, also said in the meeting: “With the presence of Dr. Salehabadi in the Central Bank, we are witnessing an increase in the attention of jurisprudential and religious principles in the country’s banking system and the effectiveness of the Jurisprudential Council will be greater from now on.” .

He further thanked Dr. Salehabadi for his efforts and special attention to the position of the jurisprudential council in the structure of the Central Bank and said: “The provisions of Article 16 of the Sixth Development Plan will be implemented if the banks’ performance is closely monitored.”

Mesbahi Moghaddam considered the deepening and expansion of education in the basics of Islamic banking in the banking system as a necessity and emphasized: Transformation in the banking system based on the principles of Islamic jurisprudence is the duty of the Jurisprudential Council and its specialized working group.
