Probably, if they approach that space, their conditions will also change, but basically today’s filmmaking is different from 20 years ago.
He added: In any case, because of this atmosphere of empathy, it is enjoyable to work with children in short films. They work very honestly and do not pursue other goals than making movies, and this feature is really valuable to me. These kids don’t have any claims and they create what they really think about and care about. At the same time, they have not yet entered the industrial stream of cinema. Cinema is basically an art-industry and these kids are doing their artistic work with heart.
Izadi also said about the talents in short cinema: In every profession, there are enthusiasts, one of them may become an influential figure. The situation is the same in cinema and maybe out of 200 interested students participating in a course, only one will become a famous and professional director. This happens a lot in the cinema. Usually, the number of enthusiasts is hundreds of times more than those who are really talented in this field and reach somewhere. The same conditions exist in all professions.
The joy of encountering “purity” in short cinema
He continued: In short cinema, many people try their best to reach their ideal. After all, cinema has always had first-rate directors and second-rate and even third-rate filmmakers; Anyway, each person reaches the degree he deserves according to his efforts and talent. Some people get tired and eventually realize their false interest and leave the field.
This special effects director also said about the interaction with young filmmakers: The first thing I tell the children of short films is that you are experiencing filmmaking. Some of them come to the cinema day special effects to make their movie more attractive and want to staple it to their movie! While the children of short films must first experience the filmmaking form and reach the standard structure. After that and in the final stages, they can achieve special effects. Some friends of short cinema do not pay attention to this point and it is better to focus on the form in their early films, not technical complications.
In the end, Izadi stated: During the period of nearly 16 years that I have been working in the field of special effects, I have worked on 4 or 5 short films and I tried to mention this point to my short film friends. These works are related to the third and fourth works of filmmakers. With all of the things I mentioned, it’s always been more fun for me to work with short film guys who are still at the beginning of their journey, because they have more purity in their work.
