Simultaneous “Turtle and Snail” competition at the Dhaka Festival and the Sofia Minaret in Bulgaria

Theater News Base: The movie “Turtle and Snail” directed by Reza Hamasi, produced by Houshang Noorollahi and Reza Hamasi and written by Mohsen Rezaei in the World Cinema section of the 20th Dhaka Film Festival in Bangladesh will compete with other selected works in this section to win the Best Picture Award At the same time, it will compete in the feature film competition section of the 14th Sofia Minaret Festival in Bulgaria with other works selected in this section.

Dhaka International Film Festival is one of the most important film festivals in South Asia, which has been operating since 1992 in collaboration with the Rainbow Film Association under the slogan “Better Film, Better Audience and Better Society”. The twentieth edition of the festival will feature selected works from 60 countries in various categories such as the Asian Competition, Female Filmmakers, World Cinema, Celebration, Bangladeshi Panorama, Children’s Films, Semantic Cinema and Short and Independent Works.

The Sofia Minaret Festival has been operating in the Bulgarian capital Sofia since 2009 and annually shows the best films, documentaries and short films from the Middle East, Central Asia and North Africa. The festival is known as one of the largest cultural events in the Balkans and has hosted more than 10,000 audiences in the past (before the Corona Pandemic).

The Dhaka Festival will be held from January 16 to February 20 (January 15 to 23, 2022) in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and the Sofia Minaret Festival will be held physically and online from January 14 to January 30 (January 14 to 30).

The international distribution of the film “Turtle and the Snail” is the responsibility of the Filmpro Institute under the direction of Mohammad Ali Ghiasvand.

Ali Mosafa, Leila Zare, Sam Nouri, Mehran Nail and Alborz Karoubeh (child actor) are the main actors in this project.

Panthea Mahdinia, Mohammad Narimani, Hamid Kheradmandi, Zohreh Hejazi and Ali Rastegari are the other actors in the movie “Turtle and Snail”.

The synopsis of “Turtle and Snail” reads: Pedram has been living with his legendary mother for ten years and has many problems with her. Afsaneh intends to get married but is opposed by Pedram and considers this to be the reason for Pedram’s problems. Pedram meets a strange young man and a secret friendship develops between them.
