According to the Mehr reporter, after Gholamreza Mohammadi replaced the new head coach of the national team due to the not so good results of freestyle wrestling in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, a heavy responsibility was assigned to Pejman Dorostkar as the new helmsman of the national freestyle wrestling team.
Relying on a very good and long-standing relationship with the president of the Wrestling Federation, Drastkar has a lot of motivation and luck to be successful in this position, now in his first test, he has to prove his ability in the 2021 World Championships in Norway.
But the new head coach of the national freestyle wrestling team, who recently completed his first national training camp, looks beyond Norway’s world competitions and believes that the main wrestling program must be developed and implemented to shine at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
“It is not clear how long we will be, but the main goal and program of the wrestling should be the Paris Olympics,” Pejman Dorostkar said in a televised interview. In addition to the world championship next year, we also have the Asian Games ahead of us, and next year, the Olympic qualifying world is ahead. “We have three difficult years ahead of us, and we certainly hope to go to the next Olympics with full quotas and more gold chances, with Olympic-oriented planning.”
“Each of these countries always wins two or three Olympic gold medals,” he said, referring to the two wrestling hubs of the world, Russia and the United States. Surely they have a better chance of winning two gold medals. “We have to get to the point where we do the same, because if we go to important arenas for a gold medal, we will not get the same medal.”
