State of emergency declared in Ethiopia

According to Al-Jazeera television website on Wednesday, Ethiopian officials called on residents of the capital to prepare for armed defense of their neighborhoods.

Meanwhile, the United States has asked its compatriots in Ethiopia to be ready to leave the country.

The declaration of a state of emergency by the Ethiopian government came after the Tigris Liberation Front captured two major cities in the northern province of Amreh, and now, as the official mass media pointed out, The forces of this front are advancing towards the capital.

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abi Ahmed said in a televised address to government officials on Monday that the war had been going on in the north for a year.

“We will fight them with all our might,” he said. There are many challenges, but we will definitely achieve a comprehensive victory.

Meanwhile, the Tigris insurgents claimed to have taken control of another strategic city.

On the other hand, the people of Kombolsha in northern Ethiopia spoke of the intensification of fighting on the outskirts of this strategic city between the Ethiopian forces and the Liberation Front of the Tigris Nation.

Kombolsha and Desi are located near Amreh, south of the Tigris, two strategic cities, about 400 km north of the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.

In fact, proving the dominance of the forces of the front over Kumbulsha is considered as a new major stage in the ongoing battle over the past year.

According to the report, calls have been cut off for the most part in northern Ethiopia, and reporters’ access to the area has been restricted, making it almost impossible to secure information from the two sides in the conflict.

Ethiopian authorities have accused the Tiger Liberation Front of executing more than 100 teenagers from Kumbolsha without elaborating. The front has not yet responded to AFP’s efforts to contact it.

The conflict in Tigray, which began in November 2020, has resumed since last June. Abi Ahmad, meanwhile, sent an army to the Tigray region to overthrow the front, which is in charge of affairs in the region.

Addis Ababa, the capital of Africa, is the second largest regional diplomatic center in terms of population, and is home to the African Union and the United Nations High Commissioner for Economic Cooperation in Africa.

Addis Ababa is also a hub for passenger airlines to transport passengers to Africa, North America, Asia and the Middle East.
