Statement of the end of the Baghdad meeting and support for the security and stability of Iraq

The people present at this meeting discussed the expansion of regional cooperation mechanisms with Iraq in various fields, including the fight against terrorism, food security, water and energy, and other fields that can lead to support for this country. In this conference, the ways of supporting Iraq and the efforts to strengthen the security and sovereignty of this country and guarantee its stability were discussed.
In this meeting, regional cooperation mechanisms will be reviewed, which will bring security and stability in the region. This conference was held on the shore of Dead Sea, 50 kilometers west of Amman, the capital of Jordan. The first round of this meeting was held in August 2021 in Baghdad.
Al-Farat News Network reported that the final statement of the meeting was issued and the participants emphasized that they will continue to cooperate constructively based on the results of the first round of the meeting to support the security and stability of Iraq.
In this statement, the participants declared support for Iraq against challenges, condemned extremism and terrorism and supported Baghdad’s efforts to stabilize the constitution, strengthen governance and build institutions.
The members present in this meeting, while supporting Iraq’s efforts for inclusive development, pointed out: holding the second round of this meeting shows the desire to support Iraq’s pivotal role in the development of regional economic cooperation.
The participants in this meeting also agreed that next year, the third round of this meeting will be held and after consultation, the time and place will be determined.
In this connection, a few hours ago, a meeting was held between Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad al-Sudani, King Abdullah II of Jordan and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. Al-Sudani office announced by publishing a statement that during this meeting, the dimensions of cooperation and expansion of partnership between Iraq, Jordan and Egypt were reviewed.
At the beginning of this meeting, Abdullah II said: “Iraq’s stability is an essential pillar for the region.” We emphasize supporting Iraq’s efforts and support its security and sovereignty and regional cooperation. The current leak emphasizes the important role of Iraq.
At the same time, while appreciating the people present in this meeting, Al-Sudani emphasized: Our government is looking for regional and international partnerships based on common interests. We believe that the current priority is to increase cooperation between our countries.
The Prime Minister of Iraq stated that joint efforts should be continued to fight against extremist thinking and pointed out: We intend to make serious efforts with our neighbors Iran and Turkey to find the best way to jointly manage our water resources. Iraq is trying to have balanced cooperation with all regional and international partners.
Egyptian President El-Sisi, while supporting Iraq’s efforts to regain its position, considered this meeting as an opportunity to expand cooperation and coordination with Iraq.
Stating that Egypt is sincerely willing to start a new phase of partnership with Iraq, he clarified: Iraq has made important achievements in the fight against terrorism. The success of Iraq is the success of the region. We are confident that we can overcome problems.
Referring to the importance of Iraq’s stability, the Prime Minister of Kuwait stated: Arab countries are aware of the position and importance of Iraq. We will try to support Iraq in all fields. The Iraqi Prime Minister’s visit to Kuwait was a clear sign of the desire to expand relations.
