Strengthen China’s relations with Russia in the military, energy and space fields

In an interview with Russian media on Monday, the Chinese ambassador to Russia announced the development of cooperation with Russia in the field of military technology, energy and space, according to Fars News Agency’s International Service.

According to the newspaper “China Morning Post“Energy is the most important, most fruitful and broadest field of practical cooperation between Russia and China, and such cooperation will be strengthened,” Zhang Hanhui told the Tass news agency.

Zhang said there are problems in bilateral trade with Russia, but the two sides will increase their settlements with their national currencies to ensure stable trade, and it is hoped that by 2024 the trade volume will reach $ 200 billion.

Asked if US and Western sanctions against Russia were “dangerous”, Zhang said: “These sanctions will certainly create problems for practical cooperation between China and Russia, and the two countries should strengthen communication and coordination to resolve the problems arising from sanctions in trade and logistics.” .

Asked whether post-war military-technical cooperation would become a priority in Ukraine, the Chinese diplomat said: “Cooperation between China and Russia is in their core interests. “China attaches great importance to cooperation in this field, and with the cooperation of the Russian side, the promotion of military-technical cooperation between the two countries will reach a higher level.”

Earlier, Wang Lutong, director general of European affairs at China’s foreign ministry, said Beijing was opposed to sanctions, adding that China was not a party to the Ukraine crisis and that its normal trade with Russia should not be affected.

Criticizing NATO’s expansion into Eastern Europe, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian stressed that the military alliance should be disbanded at the same time as the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.
