Suggestions for better viewing of the short film

Jafar Mehiari believes that today’s audience is more willing to watch short films due to the activity in virtual space and social networks, but short cinema has not been well introduced to the audience.
Charso Press: The director of the short film whose three works titled “Ilda”, “The Last Bell” and “Hale” were recently released online told Isna about the poetic atmosphere he follows in his works: He has been active in the theater for more than 20 years. I am and I have entered the field of short film production for about 4 or 5 years and if you have reviewed my shows, you will realize that a poetic atmosphere has always been in my works, and this atmosphere is not a choice for me, but arises from my mood and in fact My need is to create.
Mehiari said about the short film “Ilda” and the theme of “Khonbas”: Ever since I got acquainted with the custom of “Khonbas”, this issue has occupied my mind, and I don’t know when and how the idea of the film “Ilda” was formed like this, but surely the idea The initial idea that formed in my mind was not in the form seen in the film, and I remember that in the initial stages, I had a broader story in my mind that would take the work out of this minimalist space, and with the passage of time, the initial idea became “Ilda”.
This director said about the idea-orientedness of these three works: Most of my activities have been in the field of theater, and in fact, everything that I have created until today as a writer or director in theater or short cinema or even a long script is born of an idea and through an idea. which is very colorful, these works are formed in such a way that some friends believe that the idea swallows the story, and I have been criticized several times with this proposition, but this issue is less prominent in these three short films, and perhaps the idea-orientedness in my theatrical works is more visible. Come.
Mehiari said about the predominance of the theatrical atmosphere in the film “Aura”: “Aura” is my first professional short film, and for this reason we see more theatrical texture in this work, and a large part of it is conscious, and maybe 30% of it is for this reason. It is possible that I came from the theater to the cinema and unconsciously created such an effect. Years ago, I had written a long screenplay that has an atmosphere similar to “Aura”, and I got the main idea of this short film from my long screenplay. This film deals with the issue of family and points to the forgetfulness that exists in today’s families. “Aura” talks about the modern man who suffers from forgetfulness, and in the final shot where we see a little girl, this punctuation is made that the child attracts the attention of the audience with its greater purity, very humorously and loosely. And it shows that a family is present in that house.
This director said about the online screening of his short films: The online screening of short films will definitely have gains for this cinema, and any platform that pays attention to this issue is appreciated by me. It is definitely important to generate income for every platform, but we can hope that over time, attention will be paid to the online screening of short films on screening platforms. Achieving this important event also partly depends on us short film filmmakers, and we must pay special attention to the promotion of our films and not leave everything to the platform.
He added: Our society does not pay much attention to short films, usually the audience prefers to watch movies or serials, but with a careful planning, over time, the audience can be encouraged to watch short films as well. Virtual space and social networks like Instagram with the possibility of sharing short films have made today’s audience somewhat bored. Today’s audience tends to spend a short time to follow a content, and by the way, I think that today’s short film can attract more attention from the audience and it is enough for us to introduce short cinema to them.
Mehiari continued his statement and emphasized: In my opinion, given that the short film can have a higher quality than the videos we see on social networks such as Instagram and also provide deeper content to its audience, it has a better chance of being seen today. If the platforms, together with the directors and producers of short films, attach more importance to showing these works, I am sure that this cinema will reach a position in the coming years where even the producers of feature films will be inclined to make short films. In general, the view of platforms such as Filmnet, which pay attention to the screening of short works, is very appreciable for me, and I hope that with the passage of time, we will see more serious viewers of this valuable cinema. Undoubtedly, continuing the trend of showing short films will definitely increase the audience of this cinema, because I think that today’s audience is interested in watching short films, but they don’t know it.
This director said about choosing the “FilmNet” platform to show his works: “I experienced the first screening of the platform with the short film “Aura”, which was shown in “Video” of this film. Since Video is a platform for showing short films, it may not be well known and most of its audience are short film activists and students. For this reason, I decided to release all three of my films on a more prominent platform so that I can expose the films to a wider range of audiences, and among the platforms I chose this platform because I think it is closer to international standards.
At the end of his remarks about the effect of the presence of famous actors in short films, he said: I think that famous actors, along with short film producers and platforms, can be a third side that helps the prosperity of this cinema. Years ago, when Mr. Hossein Pakdel became the director of the theater in Tehran, he considered a policy that invited movie personalities to attend the theater performances, and because of the presence of the personalities, people who did not pay much attention to the theater at that time, came to the theaters. If today our theaters have reached a better prosperity than in the past, it is because of the same policy that Mr. Pakdel implemented many years ago, and I think that if we implement the same look and idea in short cinema, we can certainly achieve great results in the field of short cinema economy.
