Suspicious meetings of the head of the Turkish Intelligence Organization with Iraqi figures


According to Fars News Agency’s International Group, Ibrahim al-Quraishi, a member of the National Gathering party, in an interview, demanded the involvement of the Iraqi security apparatus in the meeting of Turkish intelligence chief Hakan Fidan with some Iraqi figures.

He told the Al-Malouma Iraq news website that Hakan Fidan’s “repeated and public” meetings with Iraqi politicians are suspicious and questionable, and it should be asked what issues are discussed in these meetings and whether the Iraqi Intelligence Organization is aware of the content of these meetings or not.

Ibrahim Al-Quraishi added: “These controversial meetings should be investigated and their content should be made public.” In any country in the world, any political official who wants to meet the security officials of another country will be questioned, because this issue is related to national security and such meetings must be with the government’s approval.

This Iraqi political activist then said that Turkey’s security influence in the Iraqi political environment is associated with the country’s military attacks in the border areas, and this issue raises many questions.

Iraqi circles interpret such meetings in line with Ankara’s interference and influence on Iraq’s political process and the election of the prime minister and president.
