Switzerland bought 36 F-35 fighter planes

According to IRNA’s Tuesday morning report from the AFP news agency, Switzerland’s choice to buy this war plane has caused protests, especially considering the overflowing and unpredictable costs of its production program in the United States.
Despite gathering enough signatures to hold a referendum on the purchase of this war plane, the Swiss government and parliament bypassed the vote due to lack of time before the deadline given in the Lockheed Martin company’s proposal. However, in a referendum in September 2020, citizens approved by a small majority the spending of 6 billion francs to replace the aging fleet of F-18 Hornets and F-5 Tigers with new fighter jets.
Armasuis, the Swiss arms supply organization, announced that Martin Sonderger, the director of the country’s national armaments, and Darko Savik, the director of the F-35A program in Switzerland, signed a contract in the Armasuis building in Bern on September 19. It has been agreed to buy 36 of this aircraft model.
The new planes will be delivered to Switzerland between 2027 and 2030.
So far, an increasing number of European countries, including Belgium, Great Britain, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Greece, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway and Poland, have chosen to buy this invisible multi-purpose combat aircraft for their air forces due to the crisis in Ukraine.
