Syria applies for membership in BRICS and Shanghai Organization

He added: Sberbank is also going to be opened in the Syrian Arab Republic. (Sberbank or Savings Bank of the Russian Federation is the largest bank in Russia and Eastern Europe, and is also known as the third largest bank in Europe).
On the other hand, Wang Wang Zhimin, head of the China Modernization and Globalization Research Institute, told Sputnik this Thursday that 13 countries have expressed interest in joining the BRICS group.
He said: Everyone knows that the idea of BRICS+ has been proposed to gradually increase dialogue and cooperation between BRICS countries and other developing countries and active developing economies.
Sergei Ryabkov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, today Thursday called the role of BRICS in the international arena growing and significant and said that nearly 20 countries are looking for membership in the BRICS group and the number of applicants is still increasing.
BRICS includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, and the name of this group is derived from the first letters of the names of these countries.
The luck of different countries to become a member of this group is done in the situation that the city of Cape Town, South Africa hosted the meeting of BRICS foreign ministers and BRICS friends group on June 12 and 13.
At the recent meeting of BRICS foreign ministers in South Africa, the senior diplomats of 12 countries that wish to join BRICS were also present. Previously, it was reported in the news that Argentina, Bangladesh, Comoros, Cuba, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Gabon, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Venezuela want to join BRICS.
