In the weight minus 80 kg fights, where 46 taekwondo players have registered, Mehran Hashdori defeated “Davis Tornad” from Canada in the first round in two rounds with the results of 7:0 and 8:4.
He then beat “Hernandez” from the Dominican Republic, the bronze medalist of the previous round, in 2 consecutive rounds (first round: 3-1 and second round: 3-2) and then against “Shokhrat Salaef” from Uzbekistan in 2 consecutive rounds. And with the same results, he won 3-1.
Mehran had lost to this Uzbekistani twice in the games of the Islamic countries and the international tournaments in Tehran.
With this victory, Mehran went to the quarter final stage and in this stage, he defeated “Altangerl” from Mongolia by 2:1 and by advancing to the semi final stage, he confirmed his bronze medal.
The worthy representative of Iran was in the semi-finals of minus 80 kg against Park Woo from South Korea and was able to win 9-5 in the first round.
In the second round, the opponent was a Korean who won 14-7 to reach the third round to determine the finalist. In the last round, Park Woo won 9-5 to get Iran’s first bronze medal.
In the Mexican World Championship, in his second match against Hernandez from the Dominican Republic, he suffered a loss in his right hand, but despite the injury, he fought with zeal until the last moment of the competition and finally won the bronze medal.

In the men’s group, Abolfazl Abbasi, the champion of the 2022 World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria, will compete against “Enrique Perez” from Cuba in the first round at -87 kg, and if he wins, he will fight against “Miguel Matins”, the number one in the world ranking. .
