Tajik-Russian agreement to strengthen fight against terrorism

According to a Fars News Agency correspondent in Dushanbe, after a long hiatus due to the Corona epidemic, a new round of consultations between the diplomatic institutions of Tajikistan and Russia to address the new challenges was held in person in Moscow.
The consultations took place at the level of the Deputy Foreign Ministers of the two countries in the field of international cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
The Tajik delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Sadegh Emami and the other side was headed by Alig Siramalatov, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation.
In the context of the situation in Afghanistan, the two sides discussed in detail the important issues of the fight against international terrorism and extremism, and paid special attention to strengthening the interaction between the two countries in order to ensure stability and security in the Central Asian region.
In these negotiations, the unity of approaches to create work in the fight against terrorism, as well as in the context of dealing with other challenges and threats with the role of the UN Central Coordinator and its Security Council in accordance with the principles and norms of international law was confirmed.
Both sides stressed the need to consolidate global efforts to combat ISIS and other international terrorist organizations and to gradually expand the response to new challenges and threats on key international and regional platforms, including the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, and independent countries. The Commonwealth, the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the SCO agreed.
