Tajikistan-Uzbekistan trade has increased 37-fold in the last six years

Issues related to further expansion of trade and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan were discussed at the meeting.

It was noted that trade between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan has increased 37-fold in the past six years, following efforts by the two countries to further strengthen bilateral and multilateral relations.

According to the parties, in the first four months of this year, the index reached $ 173.6 million, which is 30.4% or $ 40.5 million more than the same period in 2021.

During the meeting, the draft protocol of the ninth meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, issues related to the implementation of the previous protocol and preparations for the next meeting were also discussed.

In another part, the Tajik Minister of Economic Development and Trade and the First Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan discussed issues related to attracting additional investment to the national economy, the establishment of joint ventures in the free economic zones of Tajikistan.

Strengthening bilateral relations in the fields of investment, industry, energy, transportation and agriculture were among the other topics discussed during the meeting.
