According to IRNA, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations, Majid Takhtrovanchi, on Thursday local time, after the periodic meeting of the Security Council to review the report of the 13th report of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, on the implementation of Resolution 2231 and the JCPOA agreement. He told reporters.

Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations said that in his speech in the Council, I reiterated that the JCPOA is a multilateral diplomatic achievement that was hard-won and is the best option for which there is no alternative.

Takhtrovanchi added: “We received strong messages of renewed support for the revival and full implementation of the JCPOA.” Nevertheless, it is obvious that the main reasons for the current situation are the illegal withdrawal of the United States from the JCPOA and the reimposition of sanctions, as well as the lack of political will of the three European countries to fulfill their obligations.

Iran’s representative at the United Nations stated: While the former US government recklessly sacrificed an established principle of international law and withdrew from the agreement and reimposed sanctions, the current government continues the notorious policy of maximum pressure and sanctions. against Iran, follows the path of his predecessor. There is no doubt that such a policy is used as leverage in negotiations.

He emphasized once again: Iran is committed to multilateral diplomacy, the result of which should be the guarantee of effective and verifiable cancellation of all illegal sanctions.

Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations said: As one of the responsible members of the Non-Proliferation Treaty, the Islamic Republic of Iran is committed to the principle of cooperation with the Agency and has fulfilled all its obligations based on the aforementioned treaty and the Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement.

In Vienna, we used maximum flexibility

Takhtrovanchi pointed out: We used maximum flexibility during the Vienna negotiations and showed our goodwill to reach an acceptable agreement.

Iran’s representative in the United Nations said: As we have always emphasized, the JCPOA must be implemented completely, effectively and in a way that it can be verified. There is no alternative.

The senior diplomat of the Islamic Republic of Iran at the United Nations emphasized: The time has come for America to make a political decision to abandon the failed policy of maximum pressure.

He added: During Iran’s intensive consultations with the European Union coordinator, Mr. Joseph Burrell, last week in Tehran, Iran once again emphasized its desire to provide innovative solutions to the remaining issues and hope to break the deadlock.

Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations added: We agreed to hold indirect negotiations with the United States through the European Union in order to overcome the last obstacles in the negotiations.

Takhtrovanchi stated: We acted seriously in the Doha negotiations, which were serious and positive. As before, we will be in touch with the EU coordinator for the next phase of negotiations.

He said: Our negotiating team is ready to enter the dialogue constructively again to reach an agreement. The ball is in America’s court, and if America acts realistically and shows its serious intention to fulfill its commitments, an agreement is not far away.

Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations also said: As we have stated many times, Iran’s space and missile programs are outside the scope or jurisdiction of Security Council Resolution 2231 (2015) and its annexes and are not subject to negotiation.
